Here at Oh Ma Goats Farm…

we started with a couple Nigerian Dwarf goats to help control the poison ivy on our first property on Cape Cod, and soon discovered they served a much deeper purpose. For those that may not know, our 9 year old son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He regularly makes an appearance during our Baby Goat Yoga classes to help bring goats to eager participants and will help snap a photo with your phone too! This is a kid who, in other circumstances, really struggles with positive interaction. He loves his goats and shows a level of caring and compassion that is the root to why we do what we do. Since introducing this “backyard therapy” we have seen a decrease in his behaviors and even catch him chatting and making eye contact! On the farm, he helps with bottle-feeding kids, cleaning the barn, and caring for the various other animals including chickens, the barn kitties and our Livestock Guardian Dogs Ghost, Lady and Summer. Since relocating to 35 acres Woodstock, Maine his involvement in the farm activities has increased we have seen the positive impact it has had on him and our entire family.
